Wicklow is on the eastern side of the country close to County Dublin. It is well renowned for its early medieval monastic settlement which was founded in the 6th century by Saint Kevin and features a 30 metre tall round tower that was build with local Granite.

Glendalough is only 40-60 minutes drive from Dublin and is a great place to go if only here for a short visit.

Moving towards Thorung La (17,769 ft)

The Thorung La Pass is one of the highest mountain passes in the world at 17,769 ft.

I walked the 200 odd kilometre Annapurna circuit trek in March 2014 to cross this pass.

RIP to all the trekkers that tragically died there last week.

Above the clouds in Muktinath – Nepal

IMG_3360

I didn’t realise how far above the clouds we were during our trek till I reached Muktinath. Getting to Muktinath was a three hours trek after the Thorong La Pass.

This little village is 13,000 feet above see level. At this stage in my 19 day trek the air wasn’t as thin as it was earlier in the day but still roughly 60% oxygen!!
